Late Victorian Wallpaper Trinket Box
ON SALE! Priced at 65% off retail, this little Victorian wallpaper box is a real 'steal'!
This late Victorian band box or wallpaper box is a trinket box most probably purchased during the time of the American version of the 'Grand Tour' that was popular in Europe in the late 17th and 18th centuries when young men (and some women) would go on grand tours of Italy to absorb the wonders of the Ancient World. In late Victorian times, young American men and women would go on their own 'Grand Tour' of Europe and this box is an example of the type of trinket box brought back by young American ladies as a keepsake. It is a beautiful little box in excellent shape with a scene of a bridge crossing a river in either England or Italy.
It has a 4.5" x 6.5" diameter and stands 2" tall.
